Layered Discount: A Discount That Rewards Patience

New customers pay full price. Returning customers get a better one — automatically, the longer they stick around.

Layered Discount is the thoughtful alternative to a blanket sale. Instead of discounting for everyone, you reward the customers who keep coming back. A new customer might get three percent. A Silver customer, seven. A Gold customer, twelve — applied automatically at redemption, with nothing for the customer or the till to configure.

Because the discount is visible inside Gamma Wallet, customers can see exactly what tier they're in and what the next one unlocks — a clear, honest incentive to return rather than a one-off coupon. And because first-time traffic pays full price, margin stays intact on the visits a merchant can't yet predict.

Who it's for
Layered Discounts for Bakeries

Layered Discounts for Bakeries

A bakery wanted a way to reward large, repeat holiday pre-orders without discounting every walk-in customer.

Buy-more-save-more tiers reward exactly the bulk pre-order behaviour a bakery wants to encourage around a holiday rush.

Bigger, repeat orders unlock deeper discounts automatically, with no manual price adjustment at the till.

Layered Discounts for Bars

Layered Discounts for Bars

A neighbourhood bar wanted a natural way to reward larger group tabs without running a separate happy-hour promotion.

Discount tiers scale with a tab's total spend, so a bigger group naturally unlocks a bigger discount over the course of the night.

The discount applies automatically at close-out — no separate promo code for staff to remember.

Layered Discounts for Retail

Layered Discounts for Retail

A retail shop wanted seasonal sale tiers that scaled with basket size instead of a single storewide percentage off.

Layered Discount lets a bigger basket unlock a bigger percentage, encouraging larger single purchases rather than just repeat visits.

Discount tiers apply automatically on scan, with no manual codes or till overrides.

Direct Credit can be activated on top of any reward model above, for an additional 25% of that model's own price at your tier.

Max investment per client is a ceiling per client, per pool — not on the pool's total. If a client contributes more than this during the pool's active period, anything beyond the ceiling isn't counted toward their reward. A pool's real total is the sum of every participating client's own contribution, each counted up to this ceiling.

How the €200 credit ceiling works

Separately, every client can hold at most €200 in reward credit at any single retailer, no matter how many pools they take part in. If a client already holds €140 there and a new purchase would earn more than €60 in reward, only €60 is credited — the rest is not added. A client should spend down existing credit first, then keep purchasing in the pool to build back up toward the €200 ceiling.

Push and in-app notifications never cost anything, at any tier. Email carries a small per-broadcast cost that rises with your tier.

Frequently asked

Does Layered Discount replace regular pricing, or sit on top of it?

It sits on top — the shop's regular prices stay the same, and the discount tier is applied automatically at the point of redemption based on the customer's current tier.

Can a customer lose their discount tier?

No — tiers are based on cumulative lifetime spend or visits, so a customer keeps their current discount level even between visits.
